A New Breed of Prophets Arising

“Is he—quite safe?”
”Safe?” said Mr. Beaver  “Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.” Chronicles of Narnia

Ever read about Gideon in the Bible?  Why he was threshing wheat in a wine press? The Bible tells us that an Angel of the Lord came to him there. Judges 6: 11The angel of the Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. 12When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
13“But sir,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian.
14The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” 15“But Lord,” Gideon asked, “how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”16The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together.”
Gideon wasn’t some great Army General. He wasn’t a leader of the people. He didn’t go to the best of Schools or have the highest degree. He wasn’t the most popular, nor voted “Most Likely.”  He was a lowly man, doing a woman’s job, and doing it while hiding. He wasn’t looking for God, nor was he looking for a fight. On the contrary.. But This is God’s plan. This is how he works. Taking the weak to make strong. Causing those that aren’t to become great. So maybe we shouldn’t be so focused on our kids, pushing them to be “The Best.” “The Brightest.” Or “Most Likely.” Maybe we are to spur them into the Wild Adventure of the Cross, to take the Gospel into the most unreached areas of our world, or society?
Maybe Jesus was right? “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8  ” He will Baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with Fire.” Matt 3:11
What if we raised our kids for this one purpose? What would our churches look like if we raised a generation that had one goal, To take the Gospel to the ends of the earth!?!? Nothing screams this more than a Group called FOR TODAY..  Take a look.
“ I see a new breed of prophet arising, speaking as voices from another age;
set ablaze with the flame of the Spirit of God, and sent from before the throne.…sent from before the throne.
We are sent from before the throne to stand up and speak out,
and let hell tremble when they hear us say,
We are the burning ones, and we will not be contained!
We are the burning ones, and we will not be contained!Oh…
Burning ones, arise! Come forth!…Oh take your flame, ignite the world.
We are the only hope for a hopeless world to see the face of the living God.
Oh take your flame, ignite the world.
Under the name above all names, we declare that the glorious One lives.
Take your flame, ignite the world. Take your flame, ignite the world!   (For Today- Seraphim)
What is it that motivates me to write? To be heard? The Helpless, the Youth, the Broken and Needy. They are my heart cry.! But, Today  I turned and looked at what I know already, my oldest son.. Gazing over the pictures of his Sr Year what emotions erupt inside of me? What gnaws at my soul and make my spirit scream? Is it the growing up of a child? A potential loss of a son? No!!. I would gladly have him go and part, to be with those he longs to be with the most.
I can’t lie, I do feel a part of me is done. Something inside has passed. I have stepped forward toward a new stage, but hopefully not out of the picture.  No, Looking at these pictures just recently taken I see a boy becoming a man. I see a child, wrapped in the Glory of His true Father. New Breed of Prophet Arising, waiting to be released in the newness of life. I see not a dreamer, but the Dream. I see not a boy but a Dream Giver, working. Moving…Bending.. Yes I see my son. I see my hopes and dreams. I see the future going before me. I see a Prophet!  A missionary!  An Evangelist! One breaking out of the shell of its captivity, Bound by the protectiveness given by the parents and thru nature, now breathing the fresh air of a new life outside. Breathing…. Stretching.. Feeling… Mom and dad haven’t left. No, but now the young has to stand. The legs have to be used. All that God has instilled and imparted now must come to PASS.

The thoughts that are so common now echo in our ears. “Did we give him all he Needed?” “Is he going to be safe?  Taken Care of?”  “Is he going to be a normal person? Is he going to fit into real life?” “What kind of leader in the church will he become?” “What will people Think?” These and so many more…
The parents feed, teach and lead, but a time must come when everything they have done either succeeds or fails. But I must not look at that. My Gaze is to the Father, not of earthly decent, but to the Heavenly Father, that He will “cause all things to work for good.”  That my son’s steps are going to be “ordered of the Lord”.
Again, looking over the pictures and my heart races with the endless possibilities. It skips beats thinking of possible failures and just stops when thoughts of forsaken dreams come.   But, “I see a new breed of prophet arising, speaking as voices from another age; set ablaze with the flame of the Spirit of God”  And I hear his heart. I know his Spirit. And Like the Song, “Oh take your flame, ignite the world. We are the only hope for a hopeless world to see the face of the living God.” I too release him now, to go forth from all that Society calls Good and Normal, to Live among the broke and deprived. To take his flame and Ignite a World of Darkness on Fire with the Spirit of God.  Is this not our job as Parents?
No, we don’t prepare them for Safety and Security. We Prepare them to take the Light into the Darkness. We are not to raise Nice kids, to become nice Adults. No we are to raise a New Breed of Prophets to go forth into the world to set it a flame with the Spirit. No, I don’t offer safety. We offer adventure. We don’t offer normality, we offer alternatives. We don’t give them the World, but the WORD. And then we let them Stand on their own, supported by the foundation of Faith, strengthened by the Rock of Ages, and confirmed by the GREAT I AM. Then these Little ones will rise up and say,

Let my name be feared at the gates of hell, as I exalt the Savior.
The One that died to buy my victory, and gave me a new name.
Let my name be feared at the gates of hell, as I exalt the Savior. In the name of the Holy One of God,
I will cast you down at the foot of the cross He hung from.
I will stand behind my Savior, as He burns your kingdom down.
And I will see you on your knees before the King of Kings.
You will lose your throne to the chosen ones. The chosen ones will rise.
Tear it to the ground! This is the army we’ve been waiting for.
Tear it to the ground! We will storm the gates of hell and we will…
Tear it to the ground! We stand behind the one that conquered death.
Tear it to the ground! And we will stand when there is nothing left.” (For Today, Devastator)

A Hero is not Afraid to Give His Life

Superman Returns “They can be a great people, Kal-El,... They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all… I have sent them you… my only son.”

“But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.” Philippians 2:17

What comes to your mind when you hear the word Hero?  Batman? Superman? Or any other super-hero? Perhaps fireman? Policeman?  Why? What gives them that right?
What about Teacher? Preacher? Pastor? Let’s even go as far as Missionary?
What constitutes a Hero? It seems our world, society, is captivated by Heroes of all kinds. Different Superpowers. Different enemies. But all fighting for a cause. Always striving for a purpose. Against the forces of what evil plagues those around them.
There is a great song that’s been pretty popular for a while in the “contemporary Christian” music scene. It’s by Skillet called Hero.
Who’s gonna fight for what’s right?
Who’s gonna help us survive?
We’re in the fight of our lives
And we’re not ready to die
Who’s gonna fight for the weak? Who’s gonna make ’em believe?
I’ve got a hero, I’ve got a hero Living in me

I’m gonna fight for what’s right
Today I’m speaking my mind
And if it kills me tonight
I will be ready to die

A hero’s not afraid to give his life
A hero’s gonna save me just in time

We need a Hero. Flat out!! No IF’s, Ands, or Buts about it! Period!! The world  needs a Hero. We need someone to come rescue us from this disease, this plague, this oppression called our current condition. But most of the world will never see one. Most of the time there isn’t one. This world is crying out for help. We seek deliverance, vengeance, or just plain justice. We long for Saving!  Isn’t this the heart of what our kids are longing for? Isn’t this what our boys are longing to be? Aren’t our girls looking for that “Knight in Shinning Armor”?  This world is abusive. Injustice rules. The marginal get trampled on. The Weak?? Well it’s even worse..
In Superman Returns, This conversation takes place when Superman takes Lois above the city looking down, almost out of the atmosphere.
Superman: Listen; what do you hear?
Lois Lane: Nothing.
Superman: I hear everything. You wrote that the world doesn’t need a savior, but every day I hear people crying for one.
This is the heart of the matter. It is with those that think they are strong, that glory in their strength. The rich?  They in their riches, oblivious to the cries of help! The wise? In their wisdom caught in the snare of gaining more and more knowledge, never intending to give it away to the meek and lowly. Even those caught up in Normality, status quo, living as just the world around them is all matters.  But a Hero does what all others will not.  They lay down their Lives. They crucify themselves to the cause.  As Paul stated, ““But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.”  My Spirit shouts it. My soul affirms it. My mind wants to reason it. My flesh has to die to it.  A hero is the one laying their life down for those who are helpless, defenseless. For the broken, downtrodden, the poor, and afflicted.  A Hero isn’t looking for his or her reward. A Hero is being the broken vessel! The poured out sacrifice for others, not considering the cost, or self-harm.  But to often we stand back. We Watch from a distance. We may even say a prayer for the needy and helpless, that someone would rise up and wrongs will be righted, the whole time holding on to our safety and comfort, afraid of loosing something of our security.
{Revelations 21:8  But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur.}
We were made for so much more than what we are doing! We have the potential for Greatness!!  “Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the  World.” In Superman Returns, as he was traveling to earth His Father said, “Live as one of them, Kal-El, to discover where your strength and your power are needed. Always hold in your heart the pride of your special heritage. They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you… my only son.”

So as Jesus said ,”As the Father has sent me, I am Sending You!”  Yes, You!! and No, you are wrong! No superpower is needed. No special gift is required. For those that respond to the cries and pleas, as Barbarians of their generation, have cast aside their fleshly desires and crucified themselves to the things of this world, abandoning the lusts around them, flinging it all away to walk a path that so very few travel. These are the heroes we need to see. Those who will weep with those that weep.  Not Men of Steel, but men that have a big enough shoulder for others to cry on, those that don’t flaunt their strength. They abandon the glory of praise to walk the dark hills of loneliness and pain so that they may free the captives, and rescue the hearts of the afflicted.  They bare the marks of Christ.  Their inspiration comes from above.  They can stand up and claim as Christ, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise”!! Ps 51:17

Want to rescue the perishing? Want to help the helpless? Want to live a life that matters, not only to you, but to the world around you? Then have a broken spirit. Have a Sorrowful Heart!!  Give yourself to the needy. To the broken!  This world says “You have to be Strong.” “You have to be superior.” “You have to be the Best.” But, God calls for the “Foolish”, “The Despised.” “The Rejected!” Those who the world has called unworthy.  WHY??? The strong never want to give up their position. The Wise, want to be honored. The Best, well they want to glory in their Achievements.  Meanwhile… Who’s going to fight for the weak? And Whose going to make them believe???  Christ came “to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. Paul?  “I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice!” .. “But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.” Philippians 3:7
We were created for so much More! They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way!
“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.” 2 Timothy 4:6

The Truth in the Movie

“Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.” James 5:17

“Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the World.” 1 John 4:4

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” John 14:12

So many times I have read these scriptures and just kept on reading, but not now. Not today. What is stalking me? What are these words about? My mind bends in so many directions. Thoughts crash over me like the ocean’s tide. Is any one that much different than the other?
I read these and think, “I am Created for so Much More than I am living..” I really should be something different than what I am. Even though my job doesn’t change, my surroundings and routine are no different than others, yet there lies with in me a Power to be used among the common. To release prisoners among the mundane. To set free those trapped in their epic struggle. To walk amidst the ordinary with supernatural power, this is our calling. This is My Purpose.. So this is my attempt to write and express my understanding and emotions.
We all love a good Hero Movie. Whether it be a Superhero such as Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Captain America, and the list can go on, or of a common person rising up against the injustice in their community, we feel empowered by them. We feel for this brief moment that this is an escape from the fight and struggle around us. With each hero, fictional or non, we feel a connection. With Batman, Spiderman, and Iron Man, they are human. Flesh and blood, as we are.. They hurt. They bleed. They can even be killed. (As with Jesus.) A connection with Spiderman, unlike most, lived among the common. They all, like us, walk thru disappointments and struggles… A connection is made.  We might not fight evil like they can, but maybe like them, we can make it thru our dark hours. We can fight our battles, and somehow make it thru and that deep inside of us is a Hero.
Every hero has his, or her, weakness. Something we can relate too! The bible says, “The sin that so easily entangles us.”  (We each have our fight. Our Struggles.) In the movie we are drawn into the characters feelings and emotions by our own experiences. It is here, Our burden is lightened knowing like us, even a hero suffers, experience some of the same conflict we do.  “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are”. Yes, this comforts us; offering us hope. We too can “fight the good fight.”  And just maybe, we can rise above our problems, fears, and temptations.
In this brief moment in time that we sit and watch a movie, our spirits start to sore with freedom. Our minds are set free from the restraints of doubts and fears. Our soul takes flight on the wings of inspiration. (The Breath of God.) We are now lifted up above normality. (Greater is He that is in us.) We have replace Complacency with Action. (The works I do, you shall do also, and greater works than these.) Boredom is erased with High Energy. We have risen out of the miry clay of our very day routine and exchanged drudgery with adventure. Our soul longs for this. Our Spirit is made for it. Our minds cannot fathom all the possibilities. (He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly beyond all we can even ask or Think.) But we dream. We hope. We are freed from this prison of Flesh for a short spell. (Maybe we get a glimpse of who we truly are.)
We know it’s a movie. We understand it’s written with a precise ending. Before even the first footage is shot, the script is written. The Actors know their lines. The Director knows each scene. The shots have been laid out and planned. The angles of the camera, the lighting, and the background, have all been thought out with purpose and meaning. The Music.. The Music is produced for each scene to emphasis that part. Even the Steps the actors make are laid out. Then each scene is shot separately, until finally the bringing together of them all as one.  And so it is with us. God has Directed all our steps. He is shooting His masterpiece. Producing His Story.  “The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way”  Psalms 37:23
He is producing the story of our lives. He is shooting each scene, directing even the background traffic. Every angle does not pass by with out his approval. “For it is God who is at Work both to will and to work for His Good Pleasure.”  And though we can’t see the final cut. (We walk by Faith.)  We move on knowing that “He who began the good work will perfect it.” When all the pieces of our story are put together, and all those who see the finished product and behold the story of our lives, what will they see? Something spectacular placed in the Common? Adventure in the mundane? Victory in the midst of defeat?  Will they see God?

“As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” John 20:21
